It’s the Age of Un-enlightenment and war machines,
manufactured versions of reality.
Pixels on the wall of the digital cave,
brilliant slaves…
[Verse 1]
Apocalyptic sagas on the television screens
multi-national corporations, limitless greed,
advertised needs, genetically modified seeds,
divide and conquer tactics and pyramid schemes.
Humanitarian crisis, Taliban and ISIS,
Jihadis and the Commies, and klepto-oligarchies,
systematic neo-slavery
in the penitentiaries…
Fossil-fuel extraction, immediate satisfaction,
orange-haired presidential DISTRACTIONS
class lines widening, industrial ag & farming
refusal to acknowledge any role in global-warming.
Codified laws to richen the rich,
sweat-shop labor drop the cost of the stitch,
imperialist agendas and doomed referenda,
surveillance state, stripped of civil liberty.
[Chorus Prayer]
[Verse 2]
It’s the governmental subsidies,
the self-destructive tendencies,
the melting ice caps, and climate refugees,
It’s the toxins in the water, the chemicals in the food,
The amphetamines for the kids to control their moods…
Wisdom locked in homes, militarized drones,
non-lethal force, rubber bullets to the dome.
Training young minds for the assembly lines,
“get a job, pay the bills, build that credit you’ll be fine…”
It’s the age of un-enlightenment and liberal entitlement,
nuclear armament and moral(e) abandonment,
The art of resistance, commitment and persistence,
Teetering on the verge of the sixth mass extinction.
Call it what you want, call it what you will,
Yeah that drinkin’ water’s gone when the pipeline spills,
Bottle up what’s left for (what?) a couple dollar bills?
Fill the till… rape and kill….
[Chorus Prayer 2]
[Verse 3]
It’s material possessions and planned obsolescence...
It’s the anti-depressed, murdering adolescents...
It’s the wars between the nations and meaningless conversations...
Projects to maintain master-slave relations…
Oxycontin for the pain, "that THC will rot your brain."
Psilocybin just say no, “drugs are not the way.”
Cultural oppression, genocide, appropriation…
Work that whole year for your seven-day vacation…
Manifest destiny’s at stake, assassinations by the state,
kill the people for believing we control our fate.
Mal-intentions in disguise, corruption on the rise,
the powers at be drowning in their own lies…
Mainstream media, syndicated mania,
fear-induced control, governance by Marshall Law.
Trickle-down economies, complete and utter fallacies…
Building those walls as the Empire falls…
